Walt Disney World in 2020
Happy New Year! In our opinion any time is a good time to visit Disney World, but with the opening of new attractions and experiences, 2020 really is shaping up to be a fantastic year for visitors old and new.
Here’s why this year should be your year to visit:
Hollywood Studios
There’s all manner of new Star Wars experiences at Hollywood Studios! With Galaxy’s Edge now fully open, including 2 incredible new attractions; Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon, Smugglers Run, and a whole host of immersive eating and shopping experiences, plus a revamped Star Tours, this is definitely the time to go for Star Wars fans of all ages!
It's not all Star Wars at Hollywood Studios though! The much anticipated Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is also scheduled to open in March 2020. Here you get to travel inside a Mickey cartoon to enjoy the first Disney ride-through attraction featuring Mickey and Minnie.
There will also be a Mickey Shorts Theater opening in March, with a new cartoon and special photo opportunities.
And Toy Story Land hasn’t been forgotten either, with the opening of a new table service restaurant, Roundup Rodeo BBQ, which will take guests into Andy’s backyard and magically transform them to the size of a toy!
Magic Kingdom/Animal Kingdom
Disney After Hours events at Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom allow guests to explore the parks at night, with snacks included and shorter wait times for favourite attractions and character visits.
The more villainous ones among you will also enjoy the Disney Villains After Hours events on select nights starting in February. These nights feature favourite baddies such as Gaston, Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook and more!
And the annual Halloween and Christmas parties will of course be returning to Magic Kingdom later in the year, with special shows, character visits and tasty treats to enjoy!
Epcot
Epcot International Festival of the Arts (Jan 17th -Feb 24th ) is a chance to explore all manner of artistic treats, including galleries, live demonstrations and signed artwork, plus live performances in the Disney on Broadway concert series.
The annual Epcot Flower and Garden Festival from March 4th to June 1st will feature dozens of Disney themed topiaries around the park, plus delicious food from outdoor kitchens and live music from the Garden Rocks Concert series.
And the final Epcot festival of the year is the popular International Food and Wine Festival. This year marks the 25th anniversary of this very popular festival, which offers food and drink from around the globe, the chance to meet celebrity chefsand great live music during the Eat to the Beat concert series.
New films will also debut, including Awesome Planet in the Land Pavilion, debuting Jan 17th; and over in World Showcase you’ll find Canada Far and Wide and Beauty and the Beast Singalong.
The Regal Eagle Smokehouse is opening in the USA pavilion in 2020, a casual dining experience featuring barbecue and draft beers.
Epcot is also debuting a whole new dining experience at Space 220. You get to board an elevator to journey 220 miles above earth, where you can enjoy fine dining and fabulous views!
After the ending of the long running Illuminations show in 2019, the temporary night time spectacular, Epcot Forever, will be replaced by the permanent Harmonious, the largest night time spectacular ever created for a Disney park. The show will feature music, massive floating set pieces, LED panels, moving fountains, lights, pyrotechnics, lasers and more!
Disney Springs
A new branch of the very tempting Ample Hills Creamery opens at Disney Springs later this year, with delicious ice creams with flavours like Ooey Gooey Butter Cake, or Sally Sells Seashells!
And for those with a less sweet tooth, City Works Eatery and Pour House offers huge TV screens for live sporting events, and more than 80 beers on tap!
